Joint Replacement Surgery
Before considering Joint Replacement surgery, it may be a good idea to have a look at other things you can do. Twenty years ago, I almost begged an Orthopaedic surgeon to give me a “new knee”, and he kept saying no. He said I was too young for a start, and that I could do other things to alleviate the pain and stiffness. He was right.
- One thing he told me to do was to visit a fitness center regularly and build up the quadracep muscles ( those above the knee ), and this helps a lot. In fact, if I don’t exercise those muscles for a few months, my knee starts aching.
- The other thing which is important, is to keep my weight as low as possible, so my knees don’t have so much to carry around.
- Walking every day helps a lot also.
- Another thing I found that helps is to take nutrition supplements which give my body any nutrients that are lacking from my diet. In addition, the mangosteen in these particular products help to reduce inflammation in my knee.
A newsletter that I receive every week, has an article about joint replacement surgery. Dr Ben Kim, who wrote this article recommends that if you are considering joint replacement surgery, to be careful about the surgeon that you choose. Read his article here to find out more
