Raw food advocates believe that heating food above 116 degrees Fahrenheit destroys the enzymes in food that help with digestion and absorption. A typical raw food diet consists of 75% of the diet being raw.

Individuals have sworn that being on the raw food diet increases energy, improves the skin’s appearance and reduces the risk of heart disease. The raw food diet will also help you lose weight and produce better digestion.

Nutritional elements such as potassium, magnesium, fiber, folate and phytochemicals have been associated with lowering the risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Your body may take some time to get used to the raw food diet, some side effects you may come across are mild headaches, nausea, cravings. This will usually pass in a few days once your body detoxifies.

In your raw food diet you may include foods such as fresh vegetables and fruits, grains, legumes, dried fruit and unprocessed organic or natural foods. You can also include freshly juiced fruits and vegetables, young coconut milk and purified water.

This diet may not be beneficial to all people such as children because there growing bodies are in need of more proteins and different nutrients, pregnant or nursing women as they are not to have raw food and also people with anemia or osteoporosis should not consume raw food.

Also you may have trouble obtaining some of the ingredients you require. Although if you are committed and do not have any underlying health problems then the raw food way of living may be beneficial to you.
